The Vintage Plus line of Delden Garage Doors is a very popular and affordable carriage door. The 25 gauge steel pre-painted doors are 2 inches thick insulated with polystyrene with a vinyl backing. They are reported to have an R-value of at least 6. Obviously these doors are not meant to be used in areas that have tough winters or where you are going to heat or cool your garage. One of the problems with using polystyrene insulated panels is that this type insulation leaves gaps which reduce the effectiveness of the insulation.

The higher the R-value the better is its insulation properties. Terms like Headroom Backroom and Sideroom become parameters to select a suitable garage door as they determine the dimensions; Headroom is the amount of space inside the garage between the top of the garage door and the ceiling. Backroom is the inside length of the garage from front to back. Side room is the distance between the sides of the garage door and the side walls of the garage. Dimensions matter when you are installing a garage door as the hardware needs some room to operate freely.
In most installations a warning tag is left attached adjacent to the torsion spring when the garage door is installed. This tag warns of the danger associated with the stored energy of this spring and alerts untrained individuals to not attempt any repair adjustment or to even touch the spring and associated hardware. When the label that should be attached to this spring becomes damaged is removed or tampered with it is important that a new warning label be reattached immediately to show the dangers of this spring tension
